Announcement…..

I have created two new blogs.

Tamil Dubukku

This is a separate blog for my Tamil posts. Its called Tamil Dubukku :P
I am aiming to make a copy of all my Tamil posts (note-only tamil posts) in the original tamil script here.

Tamil Slangs

Also I though I need to contribute something for the cause of Tamil and have come up with this blog for Tamil Slangs :P. This is primarily aiming to be a reference for Tamil Slangs for both tamil speaking and non Tamil speaking comrades. Please feel free to leave all those slangs you know in the comments section of this new blog to be added in to the dictionary. Let us help in spreading the knowledge :)

PS - I have not finished with the templates yet for the above new blogs.

Jay Jay

As requested by Sri (nakkal vittara theriyala), I have given my views on Jay Jay as committed.
Maddy is a college student. Having said that do I need to say you ‘Bird watching’ is one of his main jobs. Maddiyum Amogavum(amogamai irukkirar) shopping complexil meet pannuhirargal. Director sonnare enbathargaga 100 rooba note il address ezhuthi tholaikirargal. Nejathula ippidi oru jigidioda addressa evanavathu miss pannuvana? When you think of battering your eyelids after Amogava leaves to Kolkatta, Pooja is being introduced. Maddy rescues Pooja from 4 bad boys. Pooja “irruki anaichhu oru umma tharumo” range ku maddy-ai kadhal pannugirar. Summa solla koodathu, ippidiyum ponnunga vazhiyuma ngra range ku kalaki irukirar. This is where you will decide that this movie has a storyline and will dare not to miss any scenes :P. Maddy kaiyil vennaiyai veithuk kondu icecream ku alaihirar. Dhamu college studentam. Kalki bagavan than avaraiyum college-iyum kaapathanum. Kolkatta jokes lam aratha pazhasu. Three other people are worth mentioning. Amoga voda chithiyaai varugiravar summa puhunthu vilayadi irukkar. TV news reader “Vanakkkkkaamm” Nirmala Periyasamy maadhiri voice irundhalum Sema modulation. Delhi Ganesh vazhakkam pola asathi irukirar. Amoga vukku parthirukkum maapillai Amoga vidam “setthu poiduven” nu merattum podhu sema comedya irukku. Padathil ella ponnungalum azhaga irukkirargal adhanaal padam povathee theriyavillai.(ennakku irukku inniku veetula). I am sure even the gals would be closely watching them for their color color dresses. Music Bharadwaj sooper. “Unai naan” is a classic one. Nice composition.

Music and all those beautiful gals save the movie.

Gates performs Grahapravesam...:P

Saw this photo in New Indian express. Alfred B. Ford and his wife Sharmila at the head office of ISKCON in Mayapur on Monday. Alfred is the great-grandson of Henry Ford, founder of the Ford Motor Company.

This just reminded me the news I read in Nov. 2002. Two women Casie Mc Coy and Nirali of California, said to be relatives of former US President Bill Clinton performed homam’s in Thanjavur. Casie Mc Coy, is a cousin of Clinton, and Nirali is the managing director of WarnerBros.

Who knows, I think soon we will be able to hear news like “Bush performs Punyajananam in White house”, Blair performs “dharpanam” at No.10 Downing street, B.Gates performs "Grahapravesam" etc. mmm interesting.

Me 20 You 18

It was gruelling work at office this whole week. My video cassette dealer again tricked me when I went to return my cassettes. Now he thoroughly knows how to sell cassettes to me.This time it was the original cassette mantra for “Enakku 20 Unakku 18”. Trisha wasn’t looking that great. Other jigidi (don’t know her name) who plays Tarun’s friend is a consolation for this disappointment. Vivek will stand a good chance against Shakeela – Adikadi bare body oda vandhu bayamurutharar. (konjam exercise pannina thevalai). Is Vivek running out of stock? Askava song has become my kid’s favourite now. Forgot what aska means(grocery item right?). For some reason Tarun reminds me Vineeth. Might be bcos of the hair style. Story – usual love with cinematic build ups. 20+18 = 38 total marks for the movie. Just pass.

I have travelled from Chennai to Mumbai 3 times in train and only paatis and motti Maamis were there in the whole compartment. No wonder the TTR remembers every bit of Trisha’s journey even after a year. (very logical naa).

PS: My dear wife – that jigidi matter was just for fun, not to be taken seriously.

Twinkle Twinkle little star…

Did you read the news that scientists discovered that one star which was twinkling like diamond was really diamond? They have named it Lucy. What might be the effects?
• Bush might consider diverting the manned Mars mission to Lucy.
• Money makers will advertise for “legally” owning land in Lucy.
• More Tamil film heroines might be named Lucy
• Vijayakant film songs will (thathu pithunu) portray him to have qualities like Lucy
• Simbu will have a punch dialogue involving Lucy தை க்கு அப்புறம் மாசி....நாந்தான்டா லூசி...இத நீ யோசி (Some finger exercise and he will try to bring lucy’s shape and special effects will make his fingers glitter like diamond. A big round behind his head again depicting his gyaan, glittering like Lucy.
• More tamil kaadhal kavithai’s about Lucy
• Some dance saamiyar might boast that he predicted this long ago and he still knows many such secrets. Rs.50 per question. Bulk order 5 questions for Rs.200
• Hollywood would try to make a sci-fiction movie with Bruce Willis trying to land on Lucy and the aftermaths.
• Ram Narayanan will remake the same movie with ‘Amman’ Factor starring monkey, donkey, snake and Senthil/Vadivelu. Rest of the crew will be all “out of market” gang. B & C centres 100 days hit.

Management Case Study?

This is an old one but still interesting. Not sure how much true the story is ...

A city boy, Kenny, moved to the country and bought a donkey from an old farmer for $100. The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the next day. The next day the farmer drove up and said, "Sorry son, but I have some bad news, the donkey died last night ."

Kenny replied: "Well then, just give me my money back."

The farmer said: "Can't do that. I went and spent it already."

Kenny said: "OK then, just unload the donkey."

The farmer asked: "What ya goanna do with him?"

Kenny: "I'm going to raffle him off."

(Note: To raffle is to sell a thing by lottery - draw lot -to a group of people each paying the same amount for a ticket)

Farmer: "You can't raffle off a dead donkey!"

Kenny: "Sure I can. Watch me. I just won't tell anybody he's dead."

A month later the farmer met up with Kenny and asked, "What happened with that dead donkey?"

Kenny: "I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at two dollars apiece and made a profit of $898."

Farmer: "Didn't anyone complain?"

Kenny: "Just the guy who won. So I gave him back his two dollars."

Kenny grew up and eventually became the chairman of Enron.

- Now I believe this may be true given the Enron problems :)

Junk Mails

Is there any one out there who loves junk mails? Junk mails have landed me in trouble couple of times. Till last year it was only my yahoo and other free mail accounts which were targeted. But off late I have started receiving these junks in my office mail id as well. These mails galore - free lipstick and makeup offers, somebody waiting for me to collect my million, the gal who always fancies me after reading my profile on internet, Viagra’s effectiveness, unsolicited ‘Dr.Mathrubootham’ kind of advises and much more.
One such mail was so canny in the subject line which I opened and my system was so busy that it took some seconds for the mail to open. Right at the same moment came one of the senior managers from nowhere for some query. When I had to access my laptop to help him, came this mail popping up a medium size image of gal in a nasty pose inviting me for siva siva rama rama I can’t tell you!!! I was dumbfounded. The manager seeing my shock (and knowing that I am a good boy) wittingly asked if that was my girlfriend and it ended on a lighter note. Hmmm I was not able to digest that for a long time after he left.

I wish those junk mailers on all your behalf ‘ROT IN HELL’

The two movies

“The non permanent appearance of happiness and distress, and their disappearance in due course, are like the appearance and disappearance of summer and winter seasons.” – Mr.Kicchu in Bagavad Gita.

Well, I watched two movies ‘Virumandi’ & ‘Jai’ - my happiness and distress respectively over the weekend. My video cassette dealer rightly read my nerves. A demo to demonstrate the picture quality forced me to conclude my 2 week wait for the original cassette ‘Virumandi’. Thought the storyline is nothing new, as an ardent fan of Kamal, I enjoyed ‘Sandiyar/Virumandi’ to the fullest. I liked his direction and the screen play.

Well about Jai – What can I say? Whoever has produced this movie (I think its Thiagarajan- Prashant’s father) has great guts.

Let me switch over to tanglish to do some justice.

Thiagarajanku palla kadichha pidikathu. Rendu scene dialogue oppichitu sethhu porar. Prashant Ettu vayasulaye thodai thatti ellarayum bayamurutharar. Naalu Jalras are asking him once more for this. Sardar Patel Road

I am so bored today. No mood to work/learn anything new. Today’s KRA was around blogs. Read lots of blogs and all in the ‘I Read’ section got multiple hits from me. But everybody else seem to be busy and no updates in any of those. Was an interesting read about the current college life in Chennai. Would consolidate my story about what I read some other time.(??!!) After reading all those I was feeling very nostalgic about ‘Sardar Patel Road’. I worked in the tallest building in that road (prbly in that area) for nearly 3 years. That area is(was?) one of the greenest and nicest in Chennai. Many of my colleagues are regulars to AU/IIT canteens. IIT Chennai has a wonderful campus but an equally awful canteen (All- just my opinion don’t know abt now). AU canteen is little better but the buttermilk supplied as part of the meals was shock of my life. On the first day I mistook it for water in an unwashed sambhar container. My friend stirred and brought back its nearly white colour to make me believe. After that I mostly settled down with our Company Maamis Chappathi- Raja Mathas (Rajmaa dhal). From 4PM to 6 PM you can see lots of ‘kadalai’ sessions and many ‘Puhai’ vandi onlookers in the road. Only poorva jenma shaba would make you travel in the peak hours in 47D, 5E, 5T. Mylapore commuters were the lucky ones with the frequent 1 series.

‘Cake Castle’ and the near by Bajji shop were regular assembling point for us. ‘Shakes N Creams’ served many to settle scores in treats. ‘Odyssey’ was our official gift shop for birthdays and OTP’s (Official time pass). ‘Madhya Kailash’ for new year and other auspicious days. All Police mamas would be hiding here in the month ends for license mamool collections. ICICI Vidya mandir branch was the venting point for our customer service expectations. ‘Taramani Talkies’ taught me why a teetotaller’s should not attend treats with thanni. ‘Gandhi Mandapam’ was a disgrace to Gandhi with some obscene lovers forgetting the surrounding world even at bright noon. ‘Kathipara Junction’ and 100 feet road to Ashok pillar taught me surviving skills in driving.

‘Sardar Patel Road’ – I enjoyed every second of my life there.

Tamil Films and songs

Many of the recent tamil film and songs are horrible isn’t? Just for the rhyme they fill in some crap. Some songs you can’t hear them along with your family. My orthrodoxy mama (uncle) back home bought TV and tape only after my graduation. I would eagerly wait for my chance to play film songs in the tape once he finishes his carnatic favourites. Despite me being careful in choosing the songs to play, to my luck some songs would have lewd lyrics and mama would certainly hear them. This would force my mama to hit his forehead with an exclamation “Thiagaraja keerthanai padina tapela indha karumathai ellam podanuma” and leave the place. Don’t know what he would say if he hears recent thought provoking songs like ‘Kalayanam than katti kittu odi polama’.

My mama never watches films in theatre but I would succeed occasionally in forcing him so that I can take mami also to theatre. ‘Apoorva Sahotharargal’ was one such film during my school days where I hyped about the special effects and took him. But ‘Vaazha veikkum kaadhalukku jey’ song was too much for him (visuals) where Kamal exhibits his professionalism in his usual own way with Gautami. The song was over and when there was a silent pause he exclaimed loudly to me and mami ‘ohhhh avala pottu kasakki pzhinjuttane deee’. Needless to say people in the 2 rows near to us were giggling hearing this. I never attempted any movies in theatre after that along with him. But now he watches films in TV now. Would be real fun if I get a chance for ‘Boys’ with him.

Gift an acre

Are you confused about the gift for this feb 14th? It might be a good idea to get an acre of land in Mars, Venus or Moon. This amazing gift pack comes complete with lunar certificate detailing your individual land plot, a map to locate your acre plot, your lunar mineral rights certificate and your land deed. All this legal as the advertisers claim.
There is a delivery charge of £3.75(nope its not your acre- its just the certificates).

Serious! I am not joking Check this out (Just in case if the link does not work as it has sessions then get in to the UK site -> Gifts->For Her -> Buy an Acre of Land on Mars/Venus/Moon)

But there is nothing catchy in the advert like sweet water at 15 feet, 1km to ‘BondiAhungo’ Space station, 10 mins walk to Meenakshi Seshadri Bala Bhavan, free membership to KannamaPettai Spiritual Centre, Just off MandaiKamPatti High Road etc.

தோடா !
